Explore the Lake District from the Dalesman | Sedbergh
The English Lake District boast some of the country’s most spectacular scenery, with no fewer than 19 beautiful lakes and a variety of fells and mountains including the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike.
The Dalesman Country Inn, at Sedbergh is just a few miles outside the Lake District and provides a great location to visit a variety of Lake District towns, venues and attractions. You could be walking the shores of Lake Windermere within 30 minutes, or wandering the ancient streets of Keswick in less than an hour.
The more adventurous can climb some of the UK’s highest peaks, including Scafell Pike, Bencathra, Coniston Old Man and Helvellyn or cycle some of the UKs most popular climbs such as Hardknott and Honister Pass.
There a wide range of popular and ‘off the beaten track’ walks within easy reach from the Dalesman Country Inn. You can follow in Alfred Wainwright’s footsteps as you tackle Catbells, Striding Edge, the Langdales or many more his favourites - there are simply too many too mention. One note of caution - make sure you check the local weather forecast before tackling some of the Lakes highest peaks.
There’s plenty for both road cyclists and daredevil mountain bikers in the Lake District. You can really test yourself on some of the steepest climbs in Britain (some favourites of the tour of Britain) just make sure you take the time to appreciate the stunning local scenery.
There are an abundance of tracks and bridal ways in the Lakes that compose some of the best single track mountain biking in the UK. If trail centres are more of a favourite, visit the Altura and Quercus trails at Whinlatter, near Keswick and the North Face Trail in Grizedale.
